Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility

Of necessity, this is an industrious, multi-talented, resourceful group with a collective 'anything is possible' approach. All have proven themselves able to maintain their perspective and a sense of humour under the often demanding conditions of work at sea. While this is an assemblage of independent contractors they must and do function as the ROPOS team. Expertise is exchanged readily and cross-training is mandatory. Through their individual and combined efforts they have gained the respect of scientists, commercial customers and ships' crew alike.

 

Keith Shepherd
General Manager, Operations Manager (Offshore)

Keith began working with research submersibles in 1981. The offshore engineering and management company, Highland Technologies Inc. was founded by Keith in 1995 and has been retained by the Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility to manage C.S.S.F. and direct ROPOS operations since that time. Keith Tamburri
Assistant Manager, Sr. ROV Supervisor (Offshore)

In addition to project management, Keith provides support for ROPOS' electronic and electrical systems, and the integration of new equipment. Keith has been providing engineering, management and operational support for numerous corporate, science and private submersibles since 1989. Beginning his work with the ROPOS ROV in 1992, he joined the CSSF team in 2002. Keith holds a Diploma of Technology in Robotics from BCIT. He can be reached at: tamburri at ropos dot com

 

Yvonne Baier
Office Administration

Yvonne is responsible for all aspects of CSSF's office and administration. Part of the CSSF team since 2005, Yvonne has over 20 years of experience in business management and e-commerce. She can be reached at: operations at ropos dot com.

Ian Murdock
Scientific Equipment Design and Integration, ROV Supervisor (Offshore)

Ian is responsible for a variety of scientific equipment associated with the ROV, some project management, video, standing in on Navigation, Health and Safety concerns, and some mechanical and hydraulic services. Ian has been with ROPOS since 1998 and has completed the Robotics and Automation program at BCIT as well as a wide variety of other courses at the University of Victoria and Camosun College.Ian can be reached at murdock at ropos dot com.

Vincent Auger
I.T. & Navigation, ROV Pilot & Sr. Navigator (Offshore)

Vincent provides I.T. systems, data-management and sub-sea navigation services. Part of the CSSF team since 2003, Vincent holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Victoria. He can be reached at : auger at ropos dot com.

Rodger Adamson
Hydraulic & Mechanical Systems, ROV Pilot (Offshore)

Rodger provides maintenance services for ROPOS' Hydraulic and Mechanical systems as well as the manufacturing of specialized parts and components. A part of CSSF since 1997, Rodger began to maintain and manufacture manned and remotely operated submersibles in 1982. Reuben Mills
Mechanical Systems Design, ROV Pilot (Offshore)

Reuben provides mechanical design and engineering analysis services for the planning and integration of the ROPOS system to ships of opportunity as well as to all projects that require mechanical engineering. Ray Morgan
Electronics and Imaging, Navigator (Offshore)

Ray provides vehicle electronics, information technologies, navigation and imaging design and support services for the ROPOS systems. He has a Diploma of Technology in Electronics and Trade Qualification as a Power Engineer 2nd Class.
